The ” Homework ” exhibition takes a sensitive look at the production of young professional designers and shows through this talent selection , how the choice of design as the axis of rebound for the city and the creation of the Cité du design have created a favorable to the emergence of a younger generation of designers soil. The exhibition will happen from October 10, 2013 to May 11, 2014.
The ” Homework ” exhibition, Saint-Etienne School presents the work and the course of a dozen young professional designers, who all have in common:
– To be graduates of the late 2000 (2007 to 2009)
– To be almost thirty (28-29 years for most )
– To be active on the territory Etienne ,
– And the majority of them formed the Higher School of Art and Design Saint- Etienne .
Eric Jourdan , designer and curator of this exhibition , a professor at the Higher School of Art and Design Saint Etienne last twenty years , was asked what single exemplary case in France : “How young designers decide stay on their homeland while working throughout France ? This new situation is a challenge made possible thanks to the synergy particularly successful with the City Design and the International Biennial Design Saint -Etienne. ”
These designers, and many others, chose Saint- Etienne conviction and desire to participate in a collective adventure by entering their designs in the context of local development. Their clients , publishers and prestigious galleries ( Cinna , Ligne Roset , Cristalleries St. Louis , Small Fry , Domeau & Perez , Souvignet) are here but also elsewhere, everywhere in France , proof of being perceived work in Saint- Etienne .
This young generation of designers who also put his creativity to emblematic projects Planning ( Office of Tourism, Stade Geoffroy Guichard) part of the unique history of a particularly sensitive and welcoming city designated in 2010 Unesco City Design of the creative Cities Network, alongside Buenos Aires , Berlin, Montreal , Nagoya , Kobe , Shenzhen , Shanghai and Seoul. Sufficiently original story and emblematic for the city design and the top art and design school offering this production is collected and made public.
