Francesco Balzano
–
Francesco Balzano was born and raised in Paris, but his visual culture is infused with memories of Venice, Florence, Rome, and Capri, where he spent his summer vacations.
He studied interior design and architecture before working on significant projects at Joseph Dirand’s legendary firm.
In 2018, he established his own studio and began developing unique and limited-edition furniture pieces for art and design galleries throughout the world, while continuing to work as an interior architect for private customers.
In 2020, GIOBAGNARA began collaborating with the renowned French designer Francesco Balzano, known for his powerful and sinuous character, who created an amazing furniture line for the company named “Ossicle.”
Ossicle is a series of monolithic chairs, benches, and tables made from a carefully chosen palette of leather and marble hues and textures.
Their monumental volumes are formed by the intertwining of primal monolithic and contemporary minimal features, while the lines are a reference to the “Jeu des Osselets,” which has roots in Ancient Greece and Rome, reinterpreted according to a modern visual and a sharp humous, creating the perfect balance between organic and pure geometric shapes.
The cornerstone to the designer’s work is an unrivaled combination of fine materials, clean forms, and daily uses.
Each design is envisioned as a monolithic, sculptural work that will stand the test of time.
“My work is architectural and authentic; -says Francesco – it is a permanent tribute to the beauty of timeless things”.
Balzano’s creations’ poetry is revealed through the ongoing examination of the interplay between scale, light, and space.
He views his work as a “family of things” and strives to highlight the emotional significance of each piece via the conversation between forms and materials.
