India Mahdavi and Nespresso Join Forces for Sweet Capsule Collection → Just in time for the Christmas season, Nespresso has unveiled a stunning capsule collection that is the perfect setting for the festive period. The sweet-themed Original Collection was conceived in collaboration with Parisian-based designer, India Mahdavi, who is best known for her masterful use of color. Today, Paris Design Agenda explores this astonishing collection that is bound to sweeten your holidays.
The unique Varieties range was inspired by sweet flavors, such as macaron, madeleine and praline. India Mahdavi was responsible for the designed of the packaging to which she resorted to her extraordinary signature color pop. The designer/architect also reimagined Nespresso’s mugs, cups, window displays and even visual communications.
Some of the most original pieces is the pods with the shape of jewels that almost appear to be old-fashioned sweets. These designs actually made India Mahdavi reminisce her childhood and are the perfect elements to decorate a glass jar on a kitchen counter-top.
“I wanted to add a hint of reverie. The challenge was to try to add a dreamy dimension to a world leading brand like Nespresso. There was space to bring roundness, sweetness and gourmandise to their world. These are not just flavours but imaginary delights; I’m infusing a touch of emotion and tenderness to the functional and urban universe of coffee.” – India Mahdavi
The coffee cups and the serving tray of this collection elevate the coffee ritual giving it plenty of texture and color. The mugs have a flat white-brown interior whereas the matte-finished ceramic shells were inspired by the form of a coffee bean. As a whole, this is the perfect collection for coffee lovers as well as those who like to give a magical spin to their home during the festival seasons.
