Adjaye Associates, Buzzo Spinelli Architecture, Hardel le Bihan and Youssef Tohme Architects are the architecture masterminds behind this project that features a new urban district, located along the River Seine, in South-East Paris. The context of this project is a collaboration on a winning design competition called “Inventing Bruneseau”, organized by the city of Paris.
This competition shares the purpose of linking the Ivry-sur-Seine suburb with the city center, giving the chance to create a project around 25,000 square meters of offices, 20,000 square meters of retail, and 800 residences. This is a major investment in the city of Paris, with the purpose of making it broader along this area that is South-East Paris.
Those major architectural firms decided to collaborate, and came up with an innovative scheme, developed by the Nouvel R team, with a 100-meter-tall residential block, with the name of Tour Seine, and seven other buildings across a total of 100,000-square-meter property. These buildings will provide many developments and upsides to the city, when it comes to the improvement of Paris’s social concerns.
The concept for this project was focused and inspired on the shopping streets in the center of Paris. This new urban district features the goal of providing a multipurpose space, with start-ups, and art galleries. Also, this Paris neighborhood intends to generate 50% of its own energy needs, with 65% of energy consumed either renewable or recovered.
At this innovative and creative competition, there were also top architecture firms as finalists, such as the Heatherwick Studios, which came second, and a group led by Parisian firm 2Portzamparc. According to David Adjaye, this project will stand as a massive development in the city, on the building of this amazing Paris neighborhood.
