> INSPIRATIONS 2017/2018 – Silence
The Maison et Objet inspiration book nº 30, entitled Silence to learn different aspects of the design industry, gives you inspirations and ideas, as well as tools for professionals in the fashion, decoration, and home sectors to triumph. Maison et Objet will also host a series of enriching work boosters to discuss the theme, such as conferences, a café-bookstore, and an inspirational space, each one will take place in Hall 7.
Like a remedy to the interminable racket of words and images, silence has a calming effect on the hyperactive, garrulous and loud times we live in. Home is a place where calm is restored and a growing desire for serenity can be expressed. Lifestyle and style give us the ‘silent treatment’. Beauty is unburdened from the artifice of pointless ornamentation and devotes itself to a quest for the essential. The reduction of materials, geometric abstraction, transparency, halo effects, wireframe structures, ethereal hues and black and white comprise the formal rules of silence. The spartan simplicity of archetypal shapes foster contemplative moments during which the mind is at rest. Sensitive, discrete and elegant objects re-establish inner tranquillity. Please do not disturb this sensual, poetic, harmonious and luxurious minimalism. Shh
Apart from the event’s coveted exhibitions, design enthusiasts can also count with a diverse range of conferences in which the main purpose is to discuss a cluster of matters related to design in general and its working environment. These are going to occur in the following places: L’Espace Conférences (Hall 7), L’Espace Retail (Hall 6), Designers Studio (Hall 5B).
