This year’s 44th edition, previous to the Oscars big night in Hollywood, the Cesár Awards took place this past friday, February 22nd.

Many stars walked down the red carpet and presided this major event in french film industry, namely Kristin Scott Thomas, who gifted an honorary Cesár Award to Robert Redford, in a way to celebrate his legacy as an actor, activist and filmmaker.

Also making an appearance at this grand event was Diane Kruger and Lily-Rose Depp. They paid an homage to Karl Lagerfeld, famous fashion designer, wearing Chanel’s gowns during the ceremony. On the ceremony, Diane Kruger paid a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld with a heartfelt speech in his honor.
Xavier Legrand was the big winner of the night, with the Cesár Award for his feature debut “Custody”. This family drama, that portraits domestic violence, has already won Venice 2017 Silver Lion.
“Custody” also took the Cesár Award for Best Actress (Lea Drucker), Best Editing (Yorgos Lamprinos) and Original Screenplay (Xavier Legrand).
