See Karl Lagerfeld’s New Marble Exhibit at Carpenters Workshop Gallery
Using one of the noblest and exquisite materials in the world, the fashion icon Karl Lagerfeldhas created, for the very first time, a sculptural marble exhibition that will be presented at the prestigious Carpenters Workshop Gallery in Paris. “Architectures” is the title of the new exhibition that will occur from October 19 to December 22 of this year and will be comprised by a series of monochromatic, antique and highly functional sculptures. Today, Paris Design Agendawill preview what one can expect from this enticing project.
The exhibition will feature Greek origins and evoke contemporary architectural landscape. The pieces will have canonical proportions that blend seamlessly with marble.
From tables to gueridons, consoles, lamps, fountains and even mirrors, the pieces were hand carved from two types of marble blocks, Arabescato fantastico and black Nero Marquina. These neutral tones demonstrate a trademark of Lagerfeld’s impressive style.
Karl Lagerfeld worked meticulously with marble in collaboration with architect Aline Asmar D’Amman, who after an extensive period of research and development came up with the best ways of illustrating the precious nature of this material. As a whole, this new limited collection that will be comprised of 8 marble pieces will certainly defy the meaning of craftsmanship and history in the most spectacular way.
