The French are synonymous with style — we all want to dress like them — and when it comes to home decor, they’ve mastered that classic and contemporary mix. So what’s the secret to decorating like a true French? How do they always get it so right?
The city of glamour, high-end design, and fashion – everything in Paris seems to be impeccable. Parisian chic can obviously be noticed in the interior design as well. It may even be said that Parisian chic is what defined the sophisticated style. So, if you dream about turning your home decor into a perfectly furnished Parisian apartment, follow this advice.

The French are quite traditional when it comes to interior design. They appreciate their classic, historic apartments situated in the city center (the ones with a view of the Louvre would naturally be most appreciated) but they do not want to live in a museum of their own, and they prefer a rather modern furniture mixed with some antiques and heirlooms – which sums up to an evergreen eclectic interior design.
Although we get the general impression of opulence, there is nothing flashy about the Parisian chic interiors. The walls in most of the cases are painted white (that brings out the historic ornaments detail), the rest of the color palette concentrates of shades of pale beige, blue and grey. If there would be some bright colors, they would most probably be an accent. Also, pay attention to detail – Parisians may have only a few furniture items, but the ones they do have are in the best quality they can afford – after all, art de Vivre is what they are so well known for.
Let the more vibrant colors be in the accessories which you can change with a whim. Also, put black in the mix because it looks great with white!
