Toledano + Architects has been the design firm responsible for the renovation of a Haussmanian apartment in Paris. This project was destined for a young family, with the concept of creating an artsy ambiance through the settings. The wow factor sits on a curved-wooden ‘ribbon’ that doubles as an inhabitable wall and sculptural installation. Today, Paris Design Agenda would like to take you on an exclusive tour through this amazing place!

This amazing apartment in Paris would be definitely a place you’d like to live forever, surrounded by art, comfort and also absolute luxury. Toledano + Architects transformed this amazing place with a design plot twist: the addition of a curved-wooden ‘ribbon’ that functions both as an inhabitable wall and sculptural installation.

This lightweight curved-wooden ‘ribbon’ gives the opportunity to preserve all existing historical elements that confer a strong character to the house while unveiling new uses and a new appreciation of space. The wooden wall is lower in height than the ceilings in order to keep the signs of the former historical layout plan.

The firm’s main goal is to establish a strong contemporary identity, and that is why they delivered such an amazing and bold project. The wooden curved ‘ribbon’ stands as an inhabitable wall, and sculpture, that dissimulates the entrance to the rooms and bathrooms, leaving storage space for the kitchen. Along with the carpenter, the architects created walls entirely made of wood, from the rails inside, cut with a laser-cut to the curved surfaces manufactured with molds.

On one side, the master suite, with the bedroom, open bathroom and dressing room, and on the other side the children area, with a bedroom and a bathroom. the two parts of the ribbon define these two areas of the apartment.

A narrow corridor separates the entrance from the wide and spacious common spaces: the living room and the kitchen and dining room. The materials along the wood ribbon are bendable wood, left very natural and in the niches, brass, and travertine. In the master bathroom, the luxurious grey onyx mixes up with the young and relaxed feeling given by the plywood.
