It was Urban farming company Agripolis that came up with the fantastic and sustainable idea of creating the concept of the world’s largest rooftop urban farm to Paris. Perfectly located in the center of the city of Paris, this project will sit on a 150,000-square-foot sprawling green space that will sit at the Exhibition Center at Porte de Versailles when it opens in 2020.

The world’s largest farm will be designed by the top French architectural firm Valode & Pistre, which focuses on a decade-long renovation project to make the exhibition center a model for sustainable development of the French capital. The architectural firm was also responsible for the recent renovation of Gare du Nord.

Agripolis’s ultimate goal is to connect the Parisian residents with the farming industry, developing the growth of local agriculture, as well as a healthier lifestyle. There will be over 100 farm plots available to rent, so the fruit, vegetables, and herbs will grow on-site. It is estimated that it could have 10,000 visitors per year, and it could exist over dozens of different varieties.

The produce will be grown entirely organically in an aeroponic manner, meaning they’ll be arranged vertically above ground in crop columns and fed by a rain of water and biological nutrients.
